Summer 1 2014 Parent overview for Year 3

Literacy

In Literacy we will be writing a diary entry from the point of view of a young Viking boy and writing a report about the Vikings.

Maths

In Maths we will be working with the four basic operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Foundation subjects:

Our topic this term is the Vikings. We will be learning when and from where the Vikings raiders came. We will also learn about their weaponry and shields.

In PE this half term your children will carry out two of the following activities: swimming, tennis or cricket.

In RE we will be learning about being courageous and confident.

Please note on Wednesday 30th April your child will take part in a cooking activity to raise funds for The Children’s Hospital.

On Wednesday 21st May there is a maths workshop with Mrs Edwards. This is well worth coming to as it is going to inform you about the strategies we use to teach maths in year 3.

As always, thank you for all your support.

Regards.

The Year 3 team.
